About Our Firm

Brent is an accredited Member of ICAA (Australia and New Zealand) and has over fifty years of accounting experience, working for corporations of various sizes across the globe in many different roles.

Brent started as an articled clerk and became degree qualified in his hometown of Cape Town, South Africa. For 20 years Brent worked extensively across Zimbabwe and London as a cost accountant. Brent immigrated to Perth in 1982, where he worked as a Chief Accountant and Company Secretary for a large real estate and property management group. Since relocating to Perth, and then to Albany, Brent has established himself in a variety of roles as a Financial Director, CEO and partner; working for listed public companies, small hospitality and accounting firms. In 1989 Brent set up his own practice in Albany under the name Brent Howe & Associates, which has since evolved into the Howe Accounting that we know today.

Brent is a registered tax agent and specialises in corporate and individual taxation, business planning and budgeting, corporate structures, cost accounting, loan application assistance, system advice and general business consulting.

Gareth has made invaluable contributions to Howe Accounting since becoming a partner in 2017. Gareth’s forward-thinking mentality and proficiency in accounting has given the firm much direction since its rebrand and has continued the Howe Family reputation of excellence.

 Gareth graduated the University of Western Australia in 2016 with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting and Business Law. This Albany born-and-bred lad is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant and a registered tax agent. His specialties include income taxation, GST and financial accounting.

 Gareth is mono-lingual, enjoys playing the piano, singing and attending church.

Dawn is a valued and respected team member who has over 25 years of experience under Brent Howe as an accountant.

Originally from Denmark, WA, Dawn moved to Perth to attend business college, where she studied shorthand, typing and bookkeeping. Upon completing the course, Dawn worked in a variety of roles, including real estate and as a PA for an architectural firm. Dawn moved to England in 1969, where she worked and travelled extensively across Europe and the UK. Dawn returned to Perth in 1971, where she continued her role with the architectural firm. After getting married, she spent three months living in Singapore and then relocated with her family to London, where she worked as a PA to the manager of a housing development organisation.

Her family eventually relocated to Albany, where Dawn worked for her family business and completed her certificates in Business and Secretarial Studies.

Dawn specialises in client liaison, bookkeeping, financial accounting, and reporting and general taxation.

Our wonderful team member Narelle joined Howe Accounting P/L in 2017 when we were still trading as Brent Howe & Associates. Previous to this she worked as a Primary Teacher across the state in Carnarvon, Kellerberrin, Mt Barker and Albany schools. After teaching for 15 years, she decided on a change of career. As she has always had a love of mathematics, it seemed to her a natural progression to move to Accountancy.

Narelle is happily married and has one daughter. She has completed her Bachelor of Commerce at ECU and is now looking towards studying to become a Chartered Accountant commencing in 2025

Elizabeth has brought warmth and a wealth of experience to the firm for over 25 years as Howe’s Credit Management and Office Manager.

Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Elizabeth studied at Harare Commercial College and Institute before going on to do Commercial French. She resided in London and Edinborough for two years doing secretarial work. Elizabeth eventually returned to Zimbabwe for a further two years doing office work, and then immigrated to Cape Town, South Africa for an additional five years before moving to Australia. Elizabeth spent some time bringing up her children, and then working as a receptionist and bookkeeper of a large motel.

For the last 20 years, Elizabeth has been the Credit & Office General Manager at this firm.

Elizabeth specialises in client liaison, credit management and office administration.

Our valued internee Charlotte is competent and diligent in handling tasks, and is a real asset to the team.

Born in Cantebury, England, Charlotte immigrated to Australia when she was five years old. She completed her school education in Mandurah, WA, and relocated to Albany with her family seven years ago. Charlotte has since achieved her Certificate 4 in Accounting at TAFE and is currently completing her Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Western Australia, majoring in accounting.

She enjoys swimming, horse riding and ice skating, and specialises in general accounting.
